Gravity Falls is a Disney XD original series that ran for two seasons, and every episode featured an increasingly foreign mystery that Dipper and Mabel had to solve. In the first episode, twelve-yr-quondam twin siblings Dipper and Mabel are sent to alive with their great uncle Stan for the summer in Gravity Falls, Oregon. When they get at that place, Dipper finds a mysterious journal containing handwritten data about the strange occurrences and odd creatures of Gravity Falls–information that helped Dipper and Mabel survive every episode (while likewise being the cause of most of their problems). As Dipper would quickly learn, the author of the journal was none other than his great uncle Ford, Stan's twin brother. Years earlier, Ford moved to Gravity Falls to written report the 'weirdness' of the area, and he wrote all his findings downwards in his journals. What the serial doesn't show, all the same, was that Ford was solving paranormal mysteries long before he moved to Gravity Falls–and he did then with the help of his brother, Stan.

Gravity Falls: Stan and Ford running from the Jersey Devil.

Upon watching the Gravity Falls serial, fans get the seemingly total backstory of Stan and Ford. Co-ordinate to the prove, they were pretty normal twins who used their imaginations to play-pretend like they were pirates or world-adventurers until they slowly drifted apart when they got older. If one is to only take what was shown in the blithe series into account, neither Stan nor Ford had their starting time paranormal encounter until they got to Gravity Falls–and at that point, they were well into their adulthood and weren't involved in any kind of adventures together. This means that the first 'Pines twins mystery' involved Dipper and Mabel as they used the information left by Grunkle Ford to work together and conquer any problem they were up against. Nonetheless, the 'Bailiwick of jersey Devil' story in this graphic novel completely flips this preconceived notion on its head.

As it turns out, Dipper and Mabel weren't the first set of siblings to go on paranormal babyhood adventures in the Pines family unit as the bear witness would have one believe, equally this graphic novel reveals that Stan and Ford were solving the case of the Jersey Devil long before Dipper and Mabel were even born–a surreptitious within Gravity Falls lore that totally redefines Mabel and Dipper'due south adventures.
